Volkswagen’s ‘Charge Up’ app wins best of global digital marketing for May 2015

Volkswagen was about to launch the all new electric e-Golf in Norway. Try/Apt’s task was to generate as many test drives as possible. Driven by the astonishingly high smartphone penetration in the region, the agency decided to connect people’s daily charging activity with the e-Golf. Find out what happened.

 

Pinterest intros new ad formats, adds more ways to target

In an effort to woo new brands and keep up with competitors, Pinterest has launched a mobile-friendly animated ad format it calls cinematic pins – motion-based pins triggered by a user’s scrolling. This, and other new developments including the imminent introduction of a “buy button”, could see the company competing for advertising revenue on an even footing with Facebook and Twitter. Yahoo launches new video ad formats for advertisers

Yahoo recently announced two new video advertising products – native video and video app install ads – created in response to consumers’ love of engaging with digital video across all their devices. With one recent case study revealing that viewing native video ads on Yahoo increased brand favourability up to 50 percent, and purchase intent up to 28 percent, advertisers can now feel the love too. Read on.

 

Snapchat is getting serious about advertising

Snapchat is rolling out a new ad format: 10-second video ads, costing 2 cents per view, that will run between the articles and videos on the Discover section of the app. Described as “transformative,” and “one of the great advertising products” by The Daily Mail’s North American CEO, Jon Steinberg, this could be really interesting. Find out more.

 

Instagram launches carousel ads in Australia

Meanwhile, in Australia, Instagram has launched carousel ads – a new format which provides advertisers with more flexibility by allowing users to swipe left on an ad to see additional images and link to a website of the brand’s choice. Destination New South Wales (Vivid Sydney), Kathmandu and Crown Resorts are the first Aussie brands to roll out carousel ads. Discover more.
